Ducati Monster 696

A lot of magazines said bad things about Ducati Monster 696 and they where most complaining about the engine, which its true that is not that powerful, but neither is that bad as they say. In fact the engine is far from rubbish, the single problem being that is not as fast as we expect. The engine is abrupt and exciting but runs out of thrills as you edge toward the redline. Although second, it's still miles behind the Street Triple R. The gearing is shorter than Aprilia's and it's only 2mph slower than the Shiver with twelve bhp less. The Monster 696 model looks much better than the old one being very stylish, sexy and potent and we must admit that the Ducati designers did a great job. But the motorcycle has also some bad parts and some of the worst things is that it does not handle well at turns, behaves much like Triumph in this case. The main reason for this problem is the riding position. The bars are closer to the body than at the other old models. The brakes and suspension is good and strong. The engine is an evolution of the older one 695 and has new cylinder heads like the one in the Multistrada 1100. Pistons and combustion chambers are also improved and the camshafts rotate on bearings directly in the head and this is due oil pressure which supports them. The motorbike price is somewhere at 6,840 EUR.
