Polaris has lauched a new model for 2010, the Ranger EV. You may wonder how this model diferentiates from the others ? Well, it is a completely electric vehicle and Polaris is the first industry manufacturer which tests the ground in this direction. It was just a matter of time until such a vehicle will appear. Polaris Ranger EV is the dream of any avid hunter who needs a good camouflage and a silent method of travel through the woods. The EV's electric engine is powered by a 48 volt system with a capacity of 11.7 kilowatt developing 30 HP. The main problem is the same at every electric vehicle, the battery packs weigh too much and the full mass of EV is 771 kg, because of this the maximum speed is limited to 40 km/h and autonomy to 80 km. Under the seat we find 8 batteries of 12 volt each, recharging the batteries takes maximum 8 hours. Ranger EV is equipped with independent suspension on both axles but due to high vehicle weight, it has a system with two-piston front brakes. The Polaris On Demand True 4X4 traction system feels the smallest loss of grip on the rear deck and transfers the power to all 4 wheels. EV provides space for two people and has safety belts with grip in 3 points, also the drivers are protected by the roll-cage. The advantage of the electric models is that you can use the full horse power at any time, not like at the gasoline models where climbing a hill the engine power decreases. It is a model of the future and it has a price of 7.800 € . It is the perfect vehicle for the small and average farms.
